My Internship Blog posts

What was supposed to be a day long shoot turned into a week at the newly renovated and now fully functional Firehouse Subs test kitchen. I was taken on this brand shoot alongside our senior producer, Megan, and a senior editor, Ruan, and I can confidently say that this shoot went well for all the wrong reasons.

Despite our early start, the days didn’t end until around 4:30-5:00 p.m., not that the CROP team was complaining. We worked to make the sandwiches look the absolute best that hey could for the launch of the new Firehouse Subs menu, that I’m not even sure is fully released yet! Talk about exclusivity!

The team at Firehouse wasn’t to blame either, it was more of a miscommunication of vision that led to an extended period of shoots that allowed every idea to shine. I was able to showcase my own skills as a production intern considering how busy and hectic it was seeing as they were still completing the building of the kitchen while we were there that week, and it is not at all as easy as it looks!

A producer’s job is meticulous, everything that Megan pulled out of her toolkit left me more and more at awe with her skill and her ability to predict what the clients would need and what they would ask for. Megan’s a pro, and I can’t wait to get to her level one day. The same goes for Ruan! He set his camera up, connected the Camera RAW program to the television in the test kitchen, marked the spot the tripod was in, and all he had to do was click a button.

It was smooth sailing for the most part, I’m just glad I got to be part of the process.
