As an aspiring videographer/editor, I know better than anyone than when inspiration strikes, it’s best to roll with the flow of it- regardless of what kind of equipment you have with you, whether that’s your full set up, or just a camcorder or your phone.
That being said, as someone who’s had inspiration strike in odd times, I’ll say more than anything, in those moments, I wished I had more than one camera. On my most recent trip out of Florida, I found myself recording every new street I passed and when I was putting them together after the fact, I found myself wanting to have done so much more. Not every trip has to be a full scale production, but there are so many shots that could have been elevated with a different angle to cut together alongside it.
Perhaps it’s because I’ve been so spoiled in having access to so many nice cameras at my internship and using different cameras to shoot that’s changed my perspective on filming, but I don’t think that’s such a bad thing!
